Original Abstract

Distributed temperature sensing is currently used in many areas of industry and mainly in security area for critical infrastructures protection. In this paper we focus on evaluation of distributed temperature sensing system for use as a tool for a leakage detection and localization in canalization systems. By measurement we confirmed that distributed temperature sensing is also suitable for small leaks and is able to detect any temperature increase or decrease in order of units of °C. Also localization of the event is very accurate which may reduce costs for repairs.
