Original Abstract

The paper deals with selected problems of enhancing earthquake resistance of building structures of a nuclear plant considering newly postulated earthquake risks. The plant operates for thirty years and there is a need to verify its reliability. Seismic analysis of building structures represents a basic step in the reliability assessment. In order to perform an advanced seismic response analysis of plant structures a sophisticated computation model has been developed involving all interacting structures of two main production blocks with equipment. A detailed stress analysis of all main seismic load carrying structural parts has been performed. Consequently feasible ways of enhancing the seismic resistance of structures have been proposed.
