Original Abstract

Porous iron-based materials can be prepared by pyrolysis of metal powders deposited onto polyurethane foam BULPREN and subsequent annealing in an inert atmosphere. The aim of this paper is to investigate details of their slow decomposition with the prospective of using them as biodegradable metallic components for various purposes. Systems to be investigated were: pure Fe, pure Zn, Fe + Mn, Fe + P, Fe + Zn and Zn + Mg. Moreover, one sample containing Fe, Mg, Zn, and Ag was studied. Emphasis will be laid on the chemical and mechanic properties of their corrosion under condition simulating the liquids existing in human bodies.
