Original Abstract

The possibility of using an air-PCM heat exchanger for peak-shaving of ventilation air temperature in summer was explored through numerical simulations. The simulations were done for the climatic data of the city of Brno in the Czech Republic The air-PCM heat exchanger was assumed to contain 100 CSM panels with PCM. Combinations of four mean phase change temperatures of the PCM with four constant air flow rates of ventilation air were explored in the study. The largest reduction of peak air temperatures was achieved for the smallest air flow rate and the mean phase change temperature of 24 °C.
