Original Abstract

The prion protein (PrP) is involved in neurodegeneration via its conversion from the normal cellular form, PrPC, to the infectious form, PrPSc, which is the causative agent of the transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) including Creutzfeldt -Jakob disease (CJD).
