Original Abstract

The paer is focused on numerical analysis of progress of failure that occurs in specimens made of quasi-brittle cement-based materials, particularly four concrete mixes differing in the maximum aggregate size. The goal of the whole study is to verify recorded data obtained from experiments (loading test) performed on plain concrete blocks. The test configuration was similar to the lateral tensile test - the compressive load was introduced to the specimen through a narrow steel block, which resulted in the concentration of lateral tension stress splitting the specimen perpendicularly to the imposed load.
