Type

Paper in proceedings (conference paper)

Original Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive exploration of reliability analysis methodologies, exploring open-source tools and comparative studies to enhance system performance assessment. Conducted literature review provides insights into fault tree analysis, critical infrastructure reliability, and available tools, guiding the selection of open-source solutions for analysis. Verification of available methods delves into the exploration of alternative reliability calculation packages in R, highlighting the strengths and limitations of FaultTree and ftaproxim packages. Paper then provides insights from comparative analyses between Matlab and R implementations, showcasing the compromises between computation time and result accuracy. The examination of open-source tools’ outputs against reference calculations in Matlab is also provided. Despite compromises in accuracy, acceleration techniques enable timely results within the R environment, supporting efficient reliability analysis workflows.
