Original Abstract
Windows are one of the weakest parts of the building’s system envelope. Despite the choice of quality materials, moisture problems often appear in windows, which can have far-reaching consequences. The following study deals with the elimination of surface condensation at critical locations in the window glazing and frame. These thermal bonds were located using computational models in Ansys and in situ measurements on a wooden window with insulating double glazing. To improve the initial unsatisfactory condition, patented technology was used, the contact system for suppressing thermal bridges in buildings, whose author is doc. Ing. Miloš Kalousek, Ph.D. This technology is based on the inherent conductive properties of the materials. A conductive product in contact with warm air or material can transfer the heat obtained to a place with an increased heat flow (a cooler place). The conductive material is applied to the interior at the point of increased heat flux. For the detail of the window, it is a connecting joint of the glazing and the frame. Aluminum (sprayed in the frame color) was chosen as the remediation agent because of its high conductivity, market availability, and formability. The main subject of the work is to determine the most efficient position, size, and shape of the examined bar with respect to the aesthetics and efficiency of the process. The lowest internal surface temperature is evaluated as a comparison variable. The results confirmed the feasibility, and above all the effectiveness of the proposed measures using an aluminum bar (Al bar).
