Original Abstract

This work is focused on the study of the effect of selected additives on zinc deposition in alkaline electrolyte for the purpose of using the additives in zinc based battery. Deposition was performed on tinplate in 6 mol/dm3 KOH solution saturated by ZnO and with the addition of organic additives (Slovasol 2520/2, Tween 20, CTAB and Lugalvan G35). All selected additives were examined with the focus on the morphology of zinc deposit and with respect to their ability of dendritic growth suppression. Zinc morphology was studied using an electron microscope and an X-ray diffractometer.
