Original Abstract

In this study authors focus on transient pollutants dispersion due to traffic dynamics in an ideal perpendicular intersection equipped with traffic lights. A model based on an Eulerian-Lagrangian approach to moving objects has been integrated into a commercial CFD code StarCD. As a pollutant, PM10 are assumed spherical with a density of 1100 kgm-3. The inclusion of traffic dynamics is a necessary step for correct description of dispersion processes. The PM10 concentration fields were obtained for traffic light over-switching periods of 60, 90 and 120 s. The maximal PM10 concentration and average PM10 concentration were identified for different traffic light period.
