Experimentální simulátor kolenního kloubu umožňuje aplikovat proměnné kinematické a zátěžné podmínky s ohledem na aktuální platné standardy pro testování biotribologických vlastností kolenních náhrad. V průběhu cyklu je možné regulovat rozsah rotace flexe/extenze, rozsah translace anterior/posterior a velikost zatížení. Kontakt je realizován mezi originální femorální komponentou a transparentní PMMA tibiální vložkou. In situ pozorování utváření mazacího filmu mezi kontaktními povrchy probíhá prostřednictvím mikroskopu a kamery s vysokou citlivostí.

Knee joint simulator enables to apply transient kinematic and loading conditions with respect to current standards for testing of biotribological properties of knee replacements. A range of flexion/extension, anterior/posterior displacement and load level can be controlled over thy working cycle. The contact is realized between original femoral component and transparent PMMA tibial insert. In situ observation of lubricant film formation between the rubbing surfaces is performed using a microscope and high-speed digital camera.
