Original Abstract

A novel plasma source generating discharge in liquids is based on the pin-hole discharge configuration. The simple source configuration allows operation at applied voltage from 1 kV using DC, AC, and high frequency as well as RF power supplies without additional gas inlet. The source operates in conductive solutions (both water and organic) with conductivity in the range 100 - 15000 microS/cm. The discharge itself shows self-pulsing operation with short spark like pulses of extremely high energy density (over 100 kW/mm3) producing strong acoustic waves. The plasma source applications as well as detailed diagnostic are broadly studied.
