Original Abstract

Presented work deals with the analysis of photovoltaic modules after 20 years of its function in terms of defects caused by degradation through the years of service. Detection of defects was performed by a several diagnostic mechanisms. Firstly, the panels were examined visually for an obvious defects. In a further step were selected modules explored by a thermal camera to identify faults (especially „hot spots“) in the crystal lattice of the solar cells. Then was used on each of the modules certified flash tester (a workplace of PV Lab at Brno University of Technology). Flash tester measured VA characteristics of which were the basic parameters expressed and compared to those provided by the manufacturer. The power decline after 20 years of operation was evaluated in comparison with an expected drop specified by the manufacturer.
