Original Abstract

In Eurocode EN 206-1 the k-value concept has been introduced in order to take into account the characteristics of cements with additives, in particular to adjust the water / cement limits in terms of exposure classes. In addition, the performance-based design approach idea for the life optimization or the life span design is mentioned as a alternative flexible tool with respect to the k-value concept. The objective of this paper is a discussion of k-values and the k-value concepts. Furthermore, an alternative performance based approach for the detection of numerical durability is presented.
