This study deals with the research aimed at the micro, small, medium family and nonfamily businesses in rural areas and their importance for rural municipalities in the South Moravian region of the Czech Republic. The study includes a background research of relevant literature, a summary of the results of preliminary research, research questions and hypotheses, conceptual framework, methodology and contribution to the practice and theory.
