The Rector of Brno University of Technology (BUT), Ladislav Janíček, has been elected Vice-Chair of the Czech Rectors Conference (CRC) by the rectors of public, state, and private universities. The CRC made this decision at its meeting held on 4 December in Olomouc. His mandate will take effect on 1 February 2026.The Rector of BUT will become a Vice-Chair of the Czech Rectors Conference. | Author: Václav KoníčekAt Thursday’s meeting, elections were held for the Chair and Vice-Chairs of the Czech Rectors Conference (CRC) for the term 1 February 2026–31 July 2027. At the same time, the plenary approved an amendment to the CRC Statutes, which made it possible to increase the number of Vice-Chairs from the previous five to six. Milan Pospíšil, Rector of the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, was elected Chair of the CRC. In the supplementary elections, the new Vice-Chairs elected were Ladislav Janíček, Rector of Brno University of Technology, Ingeborg Radok Žádná, Rector of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and Miroslav Lávička, Rector of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The current Vice-Chairs who remain in office are Petr Kopecký, Rector of the University of Ostrava, Libor Čapek, Rector of the University of Pardubice, and Jitka Němcová, Rector of the College of Nursing.
“I would like to thank my fellow rectors who elected me Vice-Chair of the Czech Rectors Conference today. In this role, I would like to focus on the economics and financing of higher education, where I can build on more than twenty years of professional experience in the field of university financing at both national and international levels,” said BUT Rector Ladislav Janíček after his election. He is currently also a member of the Advisory Group for Financially Sustainable Universities of the European University Association.
The Czech Rectors Conference (CRC) is an association of rectors of all public, state, and selected private (16) higher education institutions in the Czech Republic. Its mission is to address key issues of higher education, to adopt positions on these matters, and to promote them in legislative and executive bodies and authorities.
