The Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology (FaVU BUT) will present its work at the 28th edition of Designblok, the largest design and fashion festival in Central Europe, taking place from 6 to 11 October 2026. As part of the School Today exhibition section, the Faculty will present the FaVU lootbox installation at the UMPRUM Technology Centre in Prague, bringing together the presentation needs of fine art and design and exploring how approaches to presenting the two fields can complement one another. The FaVU exhibition will feature a prototype of a vertical arbor, which serves as the starting point for the design of modular exhibition furniture. Its development was prompted by the ongoing renovation of the Faculty, which has created a need to transport and exhibit works in a variety of spatial conditions. “FaVU lootbox stems from this very specific need of the Faculty. The arbor presents one possible solution for responding flexibly to this situation while also considering how the presentation needs of fine art and design can complement one another,” says Vojtěch Vaněk, a member of the project team. The arbor will house a diverse selection of artworks by FaVU BUT students and alumni, which will showcase the variety of approaches and forms of contemporary work at the Faculty while demonstrating the possibilities of using modular exhibition furniture in a specific exhibition setting. Fine art will be represented in the lootbox by works by Štěpánka Adámková, Olga Staňková, Veronika Šavarová and Eva Jaroňová, while design will be represented by works by Aneta Kubatková and Terezie Krísová.Eva Jaroňová. | Author: FFAThe installation will be part of the School Today exhibition format, which is expanding to the UMPRUM Technology Centre this year. The concept presents the work of art schools directly within the premises of one of them, allowing contemporary themes, approaches and working methods from different schools and disciplines to be presented side by side. Alongside FaVU BUT, the exhibition will feature UMPRUM, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava together with Tomas Bata University in Zlín, the Secondary School of Art and Design and the Higher Vocational School Brno. The School Today section at the UMPRUM Technology Centre (Mikulandská 134/5, Prague) will be open to the public free of charge. This year's Designblok will take place from 6 to 11 October 2026 under the central theme of Light, which will be reflected throughout the exhibition and curatorial programme.
