Stellar System: FFA BUT Graduating Students Connect Four Exhibition Venues in Brno

The Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology (FFA BUT) invites visitors again this year to its regular exhibition of diploma projects. The exhibition titled Stellar System / FaVU Diploma Projects 2026 will present the work of 39 graduating students from 17 studios of fine art and design. In addition to the usual exhibition space at the House of the Lords of Kunštát, diploma projects will also be on display at the newly opened BUT Tržnice Centre, complemented by works exhibited at TIC Gallery and Špilberk Castle. The opening ceremony will take place on 24 June at 4 p.m. at the House of the Lords of Kunštát. The exhibition will be open to the public until 26 July.

The curatorial duo Šimon Kadlčák and Tereza Vinklárková approach this year’s diploma exhibition as a unique constellation of artistic personalities. According to them, the exhibition captures the moment when, after years of study, independent artistic voices take shape and set out on their own trajectories. Alongside the striking diversity of themes, media and approaches, the exhibition also reveals subtle connections, shared interests and values that emerge between individual works. This year’s edition also introduces a specific navigation system based on six metaphorical elements. These connect works across different media and themes and allow visitors to discover unexpected links between individual projects. “While preparing the exhibition, we were looking for a way to capture the diversity of diploma projects without reducing it to disciplinary or media categories. The elements function as a metaphor for shared moods, themes and forces that emerge between individual works. It is only their mutual resonance that creates the whole – a stellar system,” explain the curators Šimon Kadlčák and Tereza Vinklárková.

The diversity of this year’s edition is also reflected in the structure of the exhibition, which is spread across four distinctly different venues. The largest part of the project will be presented at the House of the Lords of Kunštát, the traditional venue for presenting FaVU diploma projects. The second main exhibition venue will be the newly opened BUT Tržnice Centre at Zelný trh. The contrast between the Renaissance palace and the functionalist building of the former city market hall will highlight the diversity of the exhibited works and artistic approaches. Thanks to cooperation with the Brno City Museum, the exhibition is expanding for the second time into the premises of Špilberk Castle, where one of the diploma projects will be presented. A new partner of the project is TIC Gallery, which will present another diploma project in its Gallery of Young Artists.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition Stellar System / FaVU Diploma Projects 2026 will take place on Wednesday 24 June 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at the House of the Lords of Kunštát. It will be followed by a joint move to the BUT Tržnice Centre, the second main exhibition venue of this year’s edition.
