The next guest on the VUT's up? podcast is the head of the Department of Student Activities Support at BUT. | Author: Václav KoníčekUniversity life is not just about lectures, exams and studying. BUT is home to a wide range of student clubs, creative teams and other initiatives that bring students together across different fields. Their support and development is now overseen by Kateřina Brettschneiderová Loutocká, Head of the BUT Student Activities Support Department. In the podcast, she explains what students can turn to her and her team for, what kind of support is available when starting a new activity or developing an existing team, and what the new student centre will offer. The conversation also covers administrative support and ways of connecting student projects with other departments and units across the university. She explains why student activities are good preparation for professional life and discusses the benefits of MyMachine, a project connecting primary, secondary and higher education. You will also find out what Kateřina considers essential for a student team to work well and what kind of student club she would most like to start at BUT herself.“I think that being part of a student club or creative team teaches students things they cannot learn in lectures or classes. They get to see how an organisation works from a different perspective and have the opportunity to put things into practice themselves. At the same time, I think these activities also make life at BUT more vibrant,” says Kateřina Brettschneiderová Loutocká about the importance of student activities, adding that they are also good preparation for a future professional career. You can listen to the latest episode of VUT’s up? on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
