FEEC BUT signed cooperation memorandum with Brno City Museum

On Monday, June 23, 2025, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication of BUT (FEEC BUT) and the Brno City Museum (MuMB). The document was signed by Dean Vladimír Aubrecht and Museum Director Zbyněk Šolc in the presence of Vice-Dean for External Relations Tomáš Kratochvíl and Director of the Tugendhat Villa Iveta Černá.

The newly signed memorandum between FEEC BUT and the Brno City Museum creates a framework for cooperation in the field of lighting technology and environmental protection, focusing on four key areas: the use of daylight with an emphasis on optimal utilization of natural lighting in architecture and urbanism, the use of artificial light for the development of efficient lighting technologies with an emphasis on energy efficiency, light pollution including research and prevention of the negative effects of excessive lighting on the environment and human health, and light hygiene aimed at studying the impact of light on human health and wellbeing, including circadian rhythms.

The document establishes a platform for information exchange, coordination of research activities, and educational initiatives, with Petr Baxant from the Department of Electrical Power Engineering at FEEC as the contact person for BUT and Barbora Benčíková for MuMB.

Cooperation with the Brno City Museum and the involvement of the Tugendhat Villa opens up interesting opportunities for connecting modern technologies with the protection of cultural heritage and the application of innovative lighting solutions in historical buildings.
