Faculty of Fine Arts BUT is participating in Brno Art Week again this year

Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology will once again take part in the Brno Art Week festival, one of the largest events dedicated to visual arts in Brno. This week-long festival connects galleries, museums, schools, and libraries, offering a programme that includes exhibition openings, guided walks, tours, workshops, and many other events. As part of this year’s edition, taking place from 20 to 26 April, FFA will contribute with 14 events and 2 exhibitions by students and teachers. Visitors can look forward to open studios, performances, a workshop, artist talks, and guided tours.

Programme of events:

Film Developing at Jobotéka Diskotéka

20–26 April 2026, 13:00–17:00 (except Wednesday 22 April); 2nd floor of Orlovna-Obřany building, Hlaváčova 20, Brno

Come to the photo lab with your own film and develop it for free with the help of our artists. Colour or black and white, 35mm or medium format! Faculty experts will show you how the process works and introduce the operation of a small photo lab. The developing process takes approximately one hour. You can take your developed film home or leave it at the lab for scanning. The programme is open to the public, and time slots can be reserved via Instagram!

HERD – spatial intervention, Visiting Artists’ Studio
20–21 April 2026, 17:00–21:00; CED Catacombs, Zelný trh 9, Brno

Herd, livestock, group, gathering, choreography. Connection and separation at the same time. A meeting shaped by shared space and a shared goal. Interaction that is partly voluntary and partly imposed. Different types of herds intertwining. Performers observe the audience, who observe the performers. The air is dense, the low ceiling evokes the feeling of a burrow / shelter / bunker – depending on need. (text by Zuza Golińska)

The performative event will take place on 21 April in collaboration with the Centre for Experimental Theatre.

Participants: Max Bailey, Eva Gatialová, Paulina Kaprálová, Anna Kosíková, Alejandra Sanchidrián Martins, Anna Roháčová, Sarina Salimi, Alina Shaikhutdinova, Josefína Strublová.
Visiting Artists’ Studio is led this semester by Zuza Golińska with assistance from Šárka Zahálková.

Adam Michálek’s Performance at Billa (durational performance)
21 April 2026, 14:00–16:00; Billa, Náměstí Svobody 702/9, Brno

A different country is a different cry, it’s time for a coming out. Come support Adam Michálek in his durational performance at Billa. You will recognize him by his iconic shark cap. Not everyone can be Adam Michálek this year, but Adam Michálek can be anyone this year.

screening.13 X BAW ~ from above ~
21 April 2026 (19:00 doors, 19:30 screening, 21:00 fusarifusari); Rello, Rybářská 13

What if, at the edge of the physical, there exists a display case of objects that precisely connect aspects of neighbouring worlds? How does one reach this threshold, and does it require subversion or a kind of mental awakening? Do we arrive there only after a revolution, or is it part of human evolution? Is the connection between different worlds a line we can view from above, or only through our own POV? The programme prepared for this year’s Brno Art Week consists of two projects that explore and contextualise bridges and their endings, whether through visions of dystopian digital escalation or mythology and queerness.

Programme: Alex Sihelsk* – Zveromedze (2025), Kristýna Sidlárová – Digital Climate II. - I just want to feel solid ground under my feet (2022), live set fusarifusari

Curators: David Mišťúrik, Jakub Daněk

Screening.13 is a faculty-based music and projection series taking place exclusively at Rello, Rybářská 13. Its aim is to build and strengthen Brno communities interested in audiovisual culture and to offer a curated selection of contemporary moving image, often with overlaps into music and sound. The programme is curated not only internally but also in collaboration with invited curators and existing collectives.
