Representatives of Brno University of Technology have achieved a number of significant sporting successes in recent weeks. Medals from the European Championships, the title of Czech Academic Champion and a victory at the Czech Academic Paragliding Championships confirm that members of the university community can successfully combine demanding studies or research with top-level sport.BUT is making its mark at sports championships. | Author: archive of CESAOne of the most significant international successes was achieved by Jakub Mašek from the Institute of Aerospace Engineering at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering BUT. Together with Tomáš Gruna, he won a bronze medal in the Open pairs artistic cycling event at the European Championships in indoor cycling in Amorbach, Germany. After successfully qualifying, the Czech pair advanced to the final, where they delivered one of their best performances of the season. For Czech artistic cycling, this is the first medal from a major international event in the elite category in twenty years.Another sporting success from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering BUT was achieved by Robert Grim, who works as a PhD student at the Institute of Aerospace Engineering. At the Sky Paragliders Beskydy Open 2026, which was also the Czech and Slovak Championships and Czech Academic Championships in cross-country paragliding, he won the Academic category. BUT Faculty of Business and Management student Martina Matějková won the Olympic trap event and secured her nomination for the FISU World University Championships, which will take place in Taipei at the end of October. Tereza Hrbáčková from BUT Faculty of Civil Engineering, together with Markéta Hejlová, finished fifth in the A final of the double sculls. The men's coxless four also competed in the A final, representing Brno University of Technology with students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication Technologies Kryštof Blaha and Martin Řežucha.
