BUT attracted thousands of high school students at Gaudeamus in Brno. They appreciated the exhibition and the friendly atmosphere

Thousands of high school students headed to the Brno Exhibition Centre to explore where their path will lead after graduation. They could choose from more than 500 universities presented at this year’s Gaudeamus Brno fair. Among them was Brno University of Technology, which attracted visitors with robotic models, interactive technologies, and honest conversations with students. In addition, they also praised the stand itself, which won first place in the visitor ratings and third place in the exhibition competition according to the student jury's evaluation.

Brno University of Technology presented itself at the fair, which welcomed a record-breaking 31,369 prospective university students over four days, as a university full of ideas, innovation, and talented students. Visitors could try working with modern technologies, gain practical information about study programs, open days, and the admission process, and learn first-hand about student life in Brno. “What are you curious about?” echoed throughout the university’s exposition, where representatives of the Brno technical university gladly answered all inquisitive questions from their future colleagues.

All faculties and departments that took part in the fair caught the attention of high school students. “It’s great that at Informatics I don’t have to choose my specialization right in the first year, but only later in the master’s program after gaining some experience,” one of the applicants pointed out. However, BUT appealed not only to those interested in technical studies but also in natural sciences, economics, and the arts. Many students were particularly interested in architecture, which combines both technology and art.

Many visitors appreciated not only the wide range of study options but also the friendly atmosphere that prevailed at the Brno University of Technology booth. “The atmosphere at the BUT exposition was filled with energy and enthusiasm from students, parents, and teachers throughout all four days. Our stand was almost constantly busy, and we are truly delighted to see growing interest in Brno University of Technology. Gaudeamus is a great opportunity to show that technical education has a future and that studying at BUT opens doors to personal growth and an exciting career,” said Helena Sadílková, the event coordinator for BUT.

The exposition was a hit among students

The entire BUT exposition was designed to be modern and playful. The presentation also included a premiere of the new applicant campaign video, which will officially launch this Saturday, as well as interactive demonstrations of current student projects. High school visitors discovered how a humanoid robot works, had drinks mixed by a robotic bartender, and tried driving a racing car simulator. “Show us what you’ve got!” they encouraged each other.

The design of the university’s exposition also attracted a great deal of attention. Dominated by the color red, clean design, and open space, the booth won 3rd place in the student jury’s competition for the best exposition – and it even impressed the general public so much that visitors voted it as the best exposition of the entire fair! “We are very happy about this award. It’s valuable feedback for us, and we’ll certainly build on it. This year, we continued last year’s concept, expanding it with photos of students featured in the current campaign. Some of them even took part in presenting the university at the fair, which was fantastic, because it shows high schoolers that our students truly care about their university,” emphasized Sadílková.

BUT’s successful participation at the largest higher education fair confirms that it is one of the most sought-after technical universities in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
