Would you like to simplify routine tasks, make better use of artificial intelligence, feel more confident when handling difficult conversations, or try new approaches to teaching? The autumn programme of internal training at BUT offers courses tailored to a variety of roles and the current needs of university employees.Autumn Internal Training at BUT: AI, Data, Communication and Leadership | Author: Canva.comAutumn is an ideal time to try something new. The BUT Centre for Education and Counselling has therefore prepared a range of courses for employees across the university – whether you teach, lead a team, work with data, use digital tools or help ensure the day-to-day operation of BUT.
The courses are primarily practical. Some take just a few hours and offer specific methods, tools or inspiration that can be put to use immediately in everyday work. The programme includes both in-person workshops and online courses, with recordings of online sessions generally available on the BUT Internal Training SharePoint.
The autumn internal training programme covers seven areas.
Safe and responsible use of AI covers topics such as AI hallucinations, the use of AI in research, teaching and academic writing, the AI Act, GDPR and the safe use of AI in administration. Other topics include deepfakes and cybersecurity.
Those who want to use AI in practice to make their work easier can explore automation and workplace productivity. Courses cover topics such as vibe coding, AI for project work, a comparison of Copilot, Gemini and Claude, creating documents and forms with AI, and an introduction to AI agents.
A separate area focuses on data, Microsoft 365 and digital collaboration. Employees can improve their skills in Outlook, Word or Excel with AI, Microsoft Teams, Power BI or working with the Management Information System.
Courses focused on communication, relationships and critical thinking are designed to support everyday workplace communication. How can you reach an understanding with someone who has a different opinion? How can you negotiate more effectively? And how can you avoid errors in judgement when making decisions? The autumn programme offers practical answers to these questions as well.
Employees who lead teams or are preparing to take on a leadership role will also find plenty to choose from. Topics include handling difficult conversations, motivation, effective meetings, giving and receiving feedback, and inspirational presenting.
The area of modern teaching and academic development is aimed at academic staff. Courses focus, for example, on engaging students in technical education, feedback, working effectively in an international environment, and meaningful and ethical use of AI in teaching.
And because development does not always have to mean doing more, the programme also includes wellbeing and relaxation. Employees at BUT can, for example, join OFFLINE – a relaxation group offering an opportunity to slow down for a while and recharge.Autumn Internal Training at BUT: AI, Data, Communication and Leadership | Author: CVP
The autumn programme will be led by both internal and external lecturers with expertise in a range of fields. They include science journalist, university lecturer and programmer Pavel Kasík, who focuses, among other things, on AI hallucinations and vibe coding, as well as lawyer and expert in the legal aspects of artificial intelligence Daniel Pospíšil.
Milan Klapetek, a lecturer and philosopher at BUT, will focus on communication, rhetoric and interpersonal relationships. Modern teaching and didactics will be covered by Dorota Egerlová, an internal lecturer at the BUT Centre for Education and Counselling.
You can also learn about data and digital tools from experts working directly at BUT as well as from the technology sector. Radek Kubásek from the Rectorate's Data Analytics Unit focuses on internal analyses and the development of the Management Information System, Jiří Matějka has more than 20 years of experience in education in the field of digital technologies, and Jan Dvořák specialises in the Microsoft ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Copilot, Power BI and AI agents.
Leadership, feedback and presentation skills will be covered by Barbora Vacková, who has more than 16 years of experience as a lecturer. Psychologist and mindfulness instructor Iva Hausková will focus on wellbeing and stress management.
The autumn internal training programme is not designed for just one group of employees. It combines topics responding to the rapid development of AI and digital technologies with skills that can be applied in communication, people management, teaching and taking care of your own wellbeing at work.
