Faculty of Architecture at BUT Opens Final Studio Presentations. The FINALS! Festival and the Bohuslav Fuchs Award to Conclude the Academic Year

(Press Release, Brno, May 26) The Faculty of Architecture at Brno University of Technology (FA BUT) will host a series of events from 2 to 5 June 2026 to conclude the academic year. The programme will open with the FINALS! festival – final presentations of studio projects – followed by the Bohuslav Fuchs Award student competition. The week will culminate in a ceremonial closing of the academic year on Friday, 5 June. All events will take place at the faculty building at Poříčí 5 and are open to the public.

FINALS!: Take a Look Inside the Studios (2–3 June)

The FINALS! festival will offer visitors an opportunity to see how architecture students present their projects and to view exhibitions of models, visualisations, and technical drawings.

This year’s studios focus on issues that resonate far beyond academia. For example, students designed a new residential district on the site of the former Kohn brickworks in Štýřice – one of the most significant development areas within reach of Brno city centre. Another studio addressed the development of municipalities in the Podyjí region, a cross-border area on the Moravian-Austrian border largely protected as a national park. A further studio combined design with the possibility of realisation: students designed a refreshment stand in the grounds of Uherčice Chateau.

“We warmly invite our alumni, architects, professionals, and the wider public interested in architecture and urbanism. Visitors can look forward to projects such as the transformation of the centre of Loštice, a town famous for producing Olomouc curd cheese, or proposals exploring the potential of a seemingly insignificant plot with an illegally built garage on Polní Street in Brno,” says Vice-Dean for Studies Jan Kratochvíl.

Bohuslav Fuchs Award: Student Competition for the Best Studio Projects (4–5 June)

The FINALS! festival will be immediately followed by the Bohuslav Fuchs Award, taking place on 4 and 5 June. The competition will showcase the best student projects and recognise outstanding achievements from the past academic year.

The Bohuslav Fuchs Award is a student competition presented twice a year by an independent jury. The jury consists of distinguished figures from the architectural scene and related disciplines who are not affiliated with FA BUT, as well as students who received the award in the previous semester.

The entire week will culminate on Friday, 5 June, with the ceremonial closing of the academic year at the Faculty of Architecture of BUT.
